Chum reap sour, dear blogbusters!
One year after our most wonderful Cambodian internship the empty space it left behind became unbearable and the urge to be part of the buzz could no longer be resisted. We missed everyone and everything so badly that we decided to put our words into actions! Coincidence or not, the Easter holidays overlapped the Khmer new year period. Honestly, is there a better time to rejoin our beloved friends by surprise?
We jumped on the plane, felt like coming home somehow, bought a new Cambodian sim card, rented a pitiable motorbike; ready to track down the unaware ones! Luckily, we managed to contact everyone we wanted! As unexpecting as our friends were, as happy they were! Quite amazing that time and distance didn’t even slightly demolish our friendship. On the contrary, it enhanced our friendship. We even gained a brother and a sister after joining a magical engagement ceremony!
We will never forget and always cherish the memories that enrich us. Although most of our friends don’t have the means to use the internet yet - which means that it will not be possible to keep in touch with everyone - we know that they are there to welcome us back at any time. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Unfortunately, we didn’t see everyone we wanted, but that’s for next time, for sure… We are so proud to accept Soaly and Sothea’s wedding invitation!
With great sadness in our hearts, because we have to miss out on life in an ever-changing world we wish to be part of, we made our way to Phnom Penh airport. With a smile on our faces we look back at an amazing time, while looking forward to the next! See you when you see us!
Orkun chreun chreun na!
